21 Days of Prayer

Prayer Connects Us To God

The more time you spend with something or someone, the more confidence you build in it or them. The same is true for God. The more time you spend with God, the more your faith in Him will grow.

The focus of the 21 Days of Prayer is UNITING as a church in PRAYER! Twice a year (January and August), through seeking the Lord's direction, Pastor Terry provides three prayer focuses for the church. In addition to this, you are encouraged to pinpoint areas of prayer for your personal life.

August 2024 Prayer Focus. (August 18 - September 7) Let us pray:

  • For a NEW GENERATION of servant leaders to be called, equipped and empowered at CrossRoads. (2 Timothy 2:2)

  • For the vision and FINANCIAL PROVISION needed to build the CrossRoads Community Center. (Philippians 4:19)

  • For our WORSHIP EXPRESSION to welcome the anointing, presence and power of God in our ministries and services. (Psalm 100)

Guides for Personal Prayer Focuses

  • Any relationships, habits, and/or addictions- identify any that you may need to recognize as unhealthy and surrender.

  • Forgiveness - areas of forgiveness you can work through. This includes both forgiveness of yourself or of others.

  • Others in my circle - if anyone has been heavy on your heart for weeks or even years, consider committing to prayer over them.

  • (if applicable) Marriage - whether your relationship is solid or on shaky ground, investing prayer into your marriage is always a good thing to bring your love deeper and invite Jesus into the heart of your union. Feel free to cover it as a whole or specific areas within your marriage.

  • (if applicable) Parenting - in the ever-changing world of parenting and growing children, partnering with the Lord in raising children is always needed. If your child is facing new challenges, if your relationship is strained or if you need wisdom, reach out to the Lord during these 21 Days.

  • Next steps - ask God what he is calling you to in the next season (it could be maturing as a Christ-follower, focusing on a particular area of study in scripture or in personal development, a new job, serving somewhere new, pulling back in areas…).

  • Finances - do you have any financial needs? If you are facing financial hardship, debt, unpaid bills, or large expenses that have arose, consider making this an area of focus.

  • Any area of worry - if anything is weighing on you or causing worry, loss of sleep, or even changing your mood bring it to the Lord. He is aware of it, and is prepared to reveal Himself to you with His wisdom and His goodness.

  • Health - if you are having health issues, diagnosed or not, this may be an area to focus on in prayer. Walk with him and invite Him to do a work within you.

Guides for Fasting

Fasting isn’t about punishing yourself because God wants you to suffer, it’s about intentionally disconnecting from wordly things for a season so you can hear from God and experience the full life He has for you. There are several ways to fast:

The Daniel Fast: Based on Daniel 1:12, details at daniel-fast.com.

The Total Fast: Based on how Jesus fasted, this is a water only, no food fast.

A Partial Fast: Abstaining from specific foods and drinks that you tend to crave.

A Non-Food Fast: Such as fasting from television, social media or specific activities.

Please consult your physician to make sure your health will allow you to do one of the food related fasts, especially if you take medication.
