Monthly Resource: What’s My Parenting Style
Dear Parents,
Parenting kids is a fun, difficult, beautiful, messy, and constantly evolving journey. As children grow and move through the early stages of development, parents can often begin to settle into a certain style of parenting. This style can be shaped by their family history, personality, experiences, and sometimes just what helps them get through the day. It’s a season full of big feelings, new discoveries, and the daily challenge of laying a strong foundation for the future. As church leaders who work with parents of young children, we’re in a great position to offer support and guidance along the way. We don’t want to step into family dynamics, but we do want to come alongside parents as encouragers and partners in faith. One of the most impactful ways we can do this is by inviting parents to look at how they’re leading and shaping their children through the lens of Scripture. Every parenting style can be strengthened when it’s rooted in God’s love, grace, and wisdom. And when parents learn to lead from that place, they’re not just surviving the early years; they’re building a foundation for a life-giving, Christ-centered future.
